SS Officer's Belt With Buckle & Cross Strap # 2692
SS Officer's Belt With Buckle & Cross Strap # 2692
The buckle is made of die struck aluminum alloy construction. The reverse of the buckle is a mirror image of the obverse and has a raised center section with crimped edges to hold the buckle catch and crimped retainer for the prong bar and prongs. The prong bar and prongs are both intact and in fine working order. The reverse of the buckle catch is well marked with the impressed RZM logo within dual circular borders. The SS runes are within a single circular border and the contract numeral & date, "36/39". The stylized manufacturer's logo/initials, "oLc" within a diamond shaped border, indicating manufacture by Overhoff &Cie of Lüdenscheid in 1939.
The buckle comes with a blackened leather construction waist belt and cross strap. The belt is complete with its original size adjustment retaining tongue and aluminum buckle. The buckle catch end of the belt is folded over and stitched to the reverse to secure the catch in place. The other end of the belt is rounded off.
The cross strap features an aluminum alloy friction clip with a pebbled finish, which attaches to a "D" ring. The clip is well marked, "RZM 119", with a maker's logo. The cross strap adjustment buckle is also made of pebbled aluminum alloy. The cross strap is marked on the back side "44" with a Berlin maker's name. The belt is a large size.
The overall condition is excellent and looks to be unissued.
