Party Press Chief Editor Armband # 2262
Party Press Chief Editor Armband # 2262
The success of the National Socialist movement is known even to this day across the world as the pinnacle of Propaganda achievement. Propaganda tools were unlimited in their use, be it spoken, printed, audio, or visual. The National Socialist revolution was revolutionary in both skill and scale of the use of its propaganda, and its residual effects are still felt today as evidenced by the reactions of its observers. Try not to be moved when watching clips of the mass formations during the annual September "Reich Party Day" celebrations, all painstakingly calculated to have maximum emotional effect on its audience.
The Party left nothing to chance when it came to influencing the German population. Approaching and upon the Assumption of Power, the Party went about reducing dissenting opinions by acquiring or shutting down competing newspaper outlets in an effort to mainstream National Socialist ideals. State sponsored radio messages took to the airwaves to keep the Party message in the forefront of the German minds in the form of the People's Radio. Newsreel footage even preceded movies at the cinema. (all of this fell under the jurisdiction of Joseph Goebbels who ran the Ministry for Public Enlightenment and Propaganda.)
Here for your consideration is an exceptionally rare piece. This armband, labeled "Parteipresse Hauptschriftleiter", or Party Press Chief Editor is the only known example for the Party Press organization. Angolia's "Cloth Insignia of the NSDAP and SA" has only a line drawing depiction on page 101. Gold Braid and lettering really pop against the red cloth, with remnants of the RZM tag on the inside. This piece is probably reserved for only the most advanced collections due to the exclusivity, rarity, and significance it represents. Choice and impossibly rare.
Note the copy of the 1935 regulations for these, which states these were only to be issued in very limited quantities. They were only worn by the very top party press leaders at official receptions with other dignitaries.
