Gau Auslands Organisation Tunic # 605

The events unfolding in Germany during the 1930s were of enormous interest to citizens in many countries around the world. The National Socialist Revolution was well publicized and intended by the Party to be highly visible. Germans and those of German descent living abroad had an obvious stake in the events taking place in the Fatherland, and many wanted to be a part of it.  Party membership was indeed open to those living outside of the Greater German Reich. The Party, eager to have the participation (and membership dues) of Germans around the world, also needed some sort of oversight to ensure that the interests of the Party were simultaneously being served. Under these circumstances the Auslandsorganisation of the NSDAP was created. The 'AO' was intended to perpetuate National Socialist ideals to its members living outside the Reich. Here is a tunic for this particular organization, a Gau-level Auslandsorganisation (Foreign Organization) service tunic. This one is an absolute stunner being a private-made example, originally tailored by the Munich-based company, Lodenfrey, who were undoubtedly one of the finest tailors in Germany, and having the pre-1937 "AO" sleeve diamond. (pre-1937 'AO' diamond would be piped in gold, and post-37 'AO' diamond would be piped in silver). This tunic is manufactured from the most beautiful gabardine and has survived in excellent condition.  A Gau Amtsleiter with the rank of Oberbereichsleiter, this tunic has the correct post-1939 wine-red piping around the collar and very attractive collar-tabs along with its correct post-1939 armband. An original War Service Cross ribbon is sewn in the button hole. The AO was obviously an obscure arm of the NSDAP, handling the affairs for the Party for all of its membership abroad. As such it is a rare opportunity to acquire a scarce and authentic piece for the  NSDAP enthusiast. (Medals, belts, and brocades not included, but available).(Gau Auslands Organisation Tunic)

As such it is a rare opportunity to acquire a scarce and authentic piece for the
NSDAP enthusiast. (Medals, belts, and brocades not included, but available).
