Karl Barth (1896 - 1962) Regierungspräsident and NSDAP Gau Hauptstellenleiter, war volunteer 1916, 1922 second state examination in law, 1930 Director of the Interior, 1933 member of the High Consistory of the state church, 1935 enrolment in the NSDAP and Gauhauptstellenleiter (Central Office Director), close assistant to Gauleiter Josef Bürckel during the reintegration of Saarland, the reunification of Austria with the German Reich and Westmark (Lorraine). He received a silver-framed portrait of the Führer for his service and in 1939 was awarded the Golden Party Badge and the title of (tr.) "Old Fighter" by Hitler personally. 1940 District President for the Reichsstatthalter (Reich Governor) in Westmark and Head of Civil Administration of Lorraine and Saarbrücken. Personal friend of and advisor to the later Minister of Finance and Chancellor of the Federal Republic of Germany, Dr. Ludwig Erhard. From 1942 onwards, Barth increasingly came into conflict with the Reich leadership. He banned drumhead court-martials in his administrative district and prevented the conscription of Lorraine men to the front. During the denazification process he was exonerated, among others, by the later French Foreign Minister Schumann as well as other French officials for his humane attitude and was categorised as a follower. Regional chairman of the state church, district administrator of Saarbrücken, member of the supervisory board of the Saar-Elektrizitäts-AG and president of the Savings Banks and Giro Association.
Deluxe issue with gold embroidered oak leaf wreath. Brown cotton twill, the brown velvet trim band with a directly embroidered-on gold oak leaf wreath and enamelled cockade, light-red piping, brown visor. Light-yellow silk liner with outline of the cap trapezoid and Barth's name in pencil, light-brown leather sweatband with insect damage. Gilt cap eagle looking leftward, gold cap cording.
A very rare visor cap.
The embroidered wreath on the visor could only be worn by Political Leaders with the rank of Abschnittsleiter or higher.
