Golden Party Badge number 1581 awarded to Franz Reinhold Schwede-Coburg, the Gauleiter of Pommern from 7-21-34 to 5-8-45. Schwede-Coburg joined the NS Party in November of 1922, he survived the war and died on 10-19-60 in Coburg Germany. He gained his distinction nationally in the NSDAP as the very first Nazi to be elected to the office of Burgermeister in any part of Germany (in Coburg) and also held the rank of a SA Obergrupenfuhrer.This grouping includes his 30mm GPB 1581, a 1939 Third Reich published paperback biography booklet on him, a WHW Pommern tinnie, and a folder containing historical information on Schwede-Coburg.The GPB is a typical early example of the Deschler & Son 30.5mm badge. The military style pin has a period modified clasp that helped to keep the pin in place on the tunic.Very rare to find a GPB named to such a high ranking official!Period photos not included.
