Glockenspiel Musical Instrument # 909
Glockenspiel Musical Instrument # 909
This beautiful SA or PL glockenspiel would make an excellent centerpiece for any display room.
The instruments body, top post and ornamental eagle are all made of brass, which has tarnished over the years. There are a few dents to the rear, as these items were/are very delicate.
The white & black side tails are made of real horsehair and hang from eagle heads on each side of the body. The left side ring has been replaced with a modern day ring. Bells are intact and still sound the notes, though I am sure out of tune by now. Three nuts which hold the keys on appear post war, but not visible from the front.
This one came out of Munich a few years ago, being found in a building, which was torn down. A very rare historical and important piece of the early Party movement, and a visual piece.
Approximately 41 inches tall and 22 " inches wide.
