Eagle Podium Microphone # 932
Eagle Podium Microphone # 932
The eagle with its proud and noble imagery has long been used as an icon for countries, companies, and currencies as a sign of dignity and honor, and the Third Reich was no exception. In fact, the eagle was adopted in many forms and was found in multiple varieties and fashions among the different branches of civic and military agencies. The NSDAP, the Army, the Luftwaffe, and the Red Cross among others all had unique interpretations of the 'adlers' incorporated into their respective regalia. Offered here is a very unique item, a podium microphone stand with an eagle over a globe. The front, (facing its audience), has a Government-style eagle perched on top of a ball, while the back has the microphone area at the top, with any speech papers being held in place by the by the protruding edge at the bottom. There are no markings and there are no electronics remaining inside. This is a fascinating item, and given its purpose was no doubt present for many history-making moments. An object of its size and substance was intended to be visible, not wasted on some dimly-lit radio studio. A one of a kind item, this would be a centerpiece relic for any display room. Approx 12" wide by 18" tall.A good friend in The Netherlands told me that there was an exhibition last year in Neurenberg of church-building(s) during the NS-period. They showed a church pulpit with a remarkable resemblence of this deco-eagle with microphone. This church pulpit also had a microphone, as is just shown on one of the photos here.(Eagle Podium Microphone)
