SS TK Dagger & Wehrpass # 2938
This set came to me from a relative of the SS man in Austria. It includes his dagger, Wehrpass, porcelain portrait, and numerous pictures of the mans funeral. He died on the western front in 1940. The porcelain portrait can be seen in the period picture, attached to his grave marker. The relative provided me the following information:"a small description of the SS man. In the Wehrpass, you can see, that he was born in 1919 in Gresten, a small village in Lower Austria (about 700 population at this time) about 130 km away from Vienna. He learned the craft of a leather gärber. In the year 1938 he joined the SA and in September 1939 he changed to the SS. On Page 34 you can see, that he get wounded in may 1940 in France (a bullet into his hip) after that he dies in a hospital in France in August 1940. to me it was my grandfathers half-brother, they had the same mother Cäzilia Fahrnberger (page 3), later when she get married my grand grand father her name changed to Hackl. on page 4 you can see, the name Ignaz HACKL as next of kin. that was my grand grand father. As my grandmother told me, Karl Fahrnberger (SS Man) was one of the first, in Gresten who has joined the SS. On the pictures from the funeral you can see his family (my family), his SS mates. As you can see from the small picture they where very proud of him (Hackenkreuz on his grave!)The ceramic picture is the original from the Hackenkreuz on his grave. After World War II, they changed the cross to a regulare one." German Militaria(SS TK Dagger & Wehrpass)
