Nationalsocialistischer Reichsbund für Leibesubungen Standard
Nationalsocialistischer Reichsbund für Leibesubungen Standard. In 1938, the DRL (Deutscher Reichsbund für Leibesubungen) officially became the NSRL (Nationalsocialistischer Reichsbund für Leibesubungen); the ceremony that heralded this transition occurred during the grand sports festival that was held in Breslau from 24 July - 31 July, 1938: The Breslau Deutsches Turn-und Sportfest. The traditional German sport organization banners were ceremoniously marched in to the games where they were retired and replaced with the new NSRL standards. This is one of those standards and very likely was unveiled at this event. After the war, the swastika was replaced with a star of David. The previous owner had the swastika professionally restored, using the original cloth, which had been left inside the banner. This stunning single sided standard is made with satin type material and heavy silver bullion embroidery, approx. 28" wide and 34" tall, having the original pole and hanger cords (clips appear post war). Only known example to have survived and named for the state of Bavaria !
