Edged weapons are useful in close combat to thrust, stab, slash and hack. They were also important weapons during the World War II.
Below are five legendary edged weapons used in the World War II:
1. Knife
Some examples of knives used for combat in world war are:
• Mark 1: This is a 5 to 5.25-inch flat ground blade in different varieties. It was adopted by the Navy.
• Mark 2: It has a 7-inch long blade. This knife was made available to combat soldiers in 1943.
• Mark 3: Designed in 1943 due to steel shortage, the mark 3 had a thinner 6.75 blade.
• 225-Q: This knife had one of the strongest blades of all World War 2 combat knives.
• Fairbairn-Sykes Commando Knife: This is fighting knife preferred by the British and American soldiers during the World War 2.

2. Bayonet
The bayonet was used by the Japanese, British and Soviet Forces; however, it was more important to the Japanese.

3. Sword
You have probably heard of the tale of Jack Churchill, aka Mad Jack who fought in the World War 2 with bow and arrows and a sword. Like the Bayonet, swords were mostly used by the Japanese during the World War 2.
