The Luftnachrichten were the signals and intelligence corps responsible for air and ground communications. They were in charge of the air defense and intelligence operations of radar systems. The support of field communications and intelligence gathering via radio communications intercepts from enemy forces, and the use of jamming equipment for counter operations on enemy radio communications. The Luftnachrichten also processed the air defense and communications to Luftwaffe squadrons to intercept enemy aircraft and to relay information via radar to Luftfelds for enemy aircraft locations and movements.
