Allgemeine-SS Standarte 58 (Koln) Unterscharfuhrer Service Tunic. The tunic is about a size 36 and is a high quality, private purchase, 1934 pattern, which is made of black wool/tricot blend material. The tunic features a vertical, four button, front closure with small, folded back, peak lapels and a lay down collar. The tunic has two, pleated, patch, breast pockets and two, diagonally angled, slash, hip pockets, all with scalloped button down flaps. The upper left sleeve features a red wool armband with a central, white, ribbed, rayon, circular field with a black, canted, ribbed, rayon tape, swastika. The armband is trimmed in ribbed, black, rayon to both the top and bottom edges and is neatly hand stitched to sleeve. The sleeves feature deep, fold back French cuffs. The top edge of the left French cuff has a machine woven, black rayon, cufftitle with a machine embroidered number "7" in gray cotton thread, 7th Sturm. The cufftitle is bordered at both the top and bottom edges in horizontally woven, dark blue cotton thread, denoting Sturmbann II. The cufftitle is neatly hand stitched to the cuff. The upper right sleeve features an SS Honor Chevron for Old Campaigners. The insignia consists of a machine woven, bright, silver/aluminum chevron with two interwoven, narrow, parallel black stripes situated near the inside and outside edges, machine stitched to a cutout black wool base. The black wool base of the chevron is neatly hand stitched to the sleeve. The reverse of the tunic, has a short, central, vertical, tail skirt vent with dual buttons positioned at the top edge. The waistline, side panels each have an inserted and stitched, magnetic sheet metal belt support hook. The tunic has a single shoulder cord sewn into the right shoulder seam. The shoulder cord consists of dual, black, twisted strands of rayon cord alternating with dual, twisted, bright, silver/aluminum wire cords mounted on a black wool base, and retains it's original, woven 336/36 SS RZM tag. The shoulder cord retaining button is still intact. The forward edge of the lay down collar is trimmed with dual, black, twisted strands of rayon cord alternating with dual, twisted, bright, silver/aluminum wire cords. The collar has a black wool, rank collar tab to the left side with a black wool, Standarte 58 collar tab to the right side. The black wool rank collar tab features a silver washed, stamped alloy, rank pip. The Standarte collar tab features a machine embroidered number "58" in gray cotton/rayon thread. Both of the collar tabs are piped in fine, black, twisted strands of rayon cord alternating with twisted, bright, silver/aluminum wire cords. the collar tabs are neatly hand stitched to the collar. The interior of the tunic is fully lined in black rayon, and gray striped, off-white brushed rayon sleeve lining. The lining has a horizontal slash pocket to the left and right breast panel. The inside of the right breast pocket also features a tailor tag for "Adolf Walch, Koln, Buchforst Klaprothstr. 6." The buttons are all the bright silver washed, pebbled magnetic sheet metal type, with light patina, and have their original stitching. The buttons are marked "Deutsche Arbeit" The tunic is free from any moth holes, tears, or damage. There was one nip on the Standarte collar tab, which has been repaired. It has strong vivid color, with no fading. It shows very light wear from period use. The tunic is a very fine example.
